Ok, we are planning on a trip to Siem Reap and Angkor temples in Cambodia. Welcome interested members to join in. Details as below:
When
Current plan is around mid/end of November 2008, but we may decide the exact date collectively among the joining person. Figure to be 4D/3N, since 3D/2N is too less time for visiting those mighty temples.

Where
Siem Reap, the city on the doorstep of Angkor temples, Cambodia¡¯s 8th wonder of the world. Angkor is a place to be savored, not rushed, and Siem reap is the base to plan your adventure. After a few decades of slumber thanks to Cambodia internal war & conflict, now Siem Reap has reinvented itself, with more guesthouses and hotels than temples, world class wining and dining, brilliant nightlife and sumptuous spa.

Angkors temple ¨C the heart and soul of Cambodia, a source of inspiration and national pride to all Khmer (Cambodian) as they struggle to rebuild their lives after years of terror and trauma. Angkor is the perfect fusion of creative ambition and spiritual devotion. The Cambodian ¡®God-Kings¡¯ of old build these temples to rival their ancestors in size, scales and symmetry. The hundreds of temples surviving today are but just sacred skeleton of the vast political, religious and social centre of Cambodia¡¯s ancient Khmer empire; a city that, at its peak, boasted a population of 1 million when London at the same time, was a scrawny town of 50,000.

Below are some highlights:
Angkor Wat ¨C The world¡¯s largest religious building alive. Angkor Thom ¨C Great Angkor, the fortified city, city of tomb raider. Bayon ¨C One of the world¡¯s weirdest building. Ta Prohm ¨C The temple that swallows by the jungle. Preah Khan ¨C The temple of sacred sword. Preah Neak Pean ¨C The Buddhist temple of intertwined Nagas. Pre Rup ¨C The temple of lotus towers. Banteay Srei ¨C The jewel in the crown of Angkorian art. Kbal Spean ¨C Rivers of a thousand Lingas.
Other than these highlights, there are still hundreds of ruins/temples survived, its just a matter of time that you do not have to explore all of them.

Brief history
The Angkorian period & Khmer empire spans from around AD 802 to AD 1432. During its peak, it consolidate itself as one of the greatest power in southeast Asia, with controls over today¡¯s Cambodia, most part of Thailand & Laos, and extended influence on Burma (Myanmar) & Malaya.

Costs
There are direct flights to Siem Reap from KL via Air Asia. Return flight will cost around RM 400 ¨C RM 700 all inclusive (air ticket, airport tax, fuel surcharge, admin fees, etc.), variation depend on how soon we bought the ticket.
Expenses in Siem Reap are cheap compare with most of the tourism places. Budget accommodation cost around USD 5 ¨C USD 20 per room including breakfast while midrange accommodation around USD 20 ¨C USD 40 per room including breakfast. Transport around the city and Angkor temples cost around USD 5 ¨C USD 12 per person per day. Eating & Dining cost around USD 5 ¨C USD 15 per person per day (unless u go wild with the wine list¡.). It is safe to say there will never be a breakneck budget on this trip.
Pre-requisite
For u guys without a passport, go get one. Visa though is not required to visit Cambodia.
Please provide feedbacks or questions after this post. Tq.

Well ya, for me, 4th week of November (22-29 Nov) is also more suitable, lets temporary set it on this period. Any suggestion about the day depart and back? Go on Sat-come back on Tues? Sun-Wed? Wed-Sat?

For us, the best date would be: 21-24 or 22-25, or 20-23
We cant take long leaves, the best can connect Sat and Sun, is it ok?
RE: Ai Ling, I should call some China Ladies to make it more "Luxurious"

I just check airasia ticket, 21 Nov ticket already too expensive. I propose go on 22 Nov (Sat) and back on 25 Nov (Tue), how bout that? If ok i think we should buy the ticket first, if later before going we want to change the date then we pay some penalty to change it. If not i scare later the ticket will become increasingly expensive.
